June has become synonymous with the start of summer, as school lets out and many prepare for summer vacation. As much as we’d love to cheer as you bust out the outdoor grill and open the pool, it’s important to do some necessary maintenance to prepare your home for upcoming festivities. Doing some upkeep now will ensure you’ll be able to enjoy your summer with your family and friends.

Start your summer on a good note by jump-starting your home maintenance, especially since June is Home Ownership Month. Take pride in your property by getting it in its best possible shape!

Water your lawn and garden: prevent evaporation by watering in the early morning or dusk.

Bug proof your home: install screens on all of your windows and doors keeping them closed as much as possible.

Clean your grill: remove rust from the exterior and clean the grate with mild dishsoap.

Wash windows: allow natural light in and brighten your home by cleaning your windows, sills, interior and exterior glass.

Mulch your garden: keep weeds down and reduce water loss by mulching.

Clean deck and patio: power-wash deck and patio to remove any dirt that may have accumulated over the winter.

If you are considering a move and would like to discuss the current market value of your home.
