February Home Maintenance Checklist

It’s February and although the weather has been mild for this time of year – winter’s not over yet. February is a good month to put your nesting instinct to work and get your home as clean and cozy as possible. When spring arrives, you’ll be glad you got a head start on these indoor tasks so you can spend more time outdoors.

If you’re planning to sell your home this spring, talk to your real estate agent about any repairs or improvements you’ll need to make. February is a good month to hire any painters, contractors or landscapers and make a schedule of work to be done.

Mop Entryway Floors

Clean floors regularly to prevent damage from melting snow and road salt. Place a basket of old towels near the door to wipe up water or salt.

Take Care of Your Mattress

Extend the like of your mattress by rotating or flipping it. Vaccum the mattress & box spring to eliminate dust mites.

Organize the Laundry Room

Discard seldom-used laundry products & replace damaged sorting bins. Scrape dried laundry detergent from the ridges in your washer.

Clean Out Your Spice Cabinet

Throw away expired spices which could harbor mold & bacteria. Go through spices & other seasonings twice a year to ensure freshness.

Sanitize Hand-Held Devices

Prevent germs that cause the spread of clods and the flu. Disinfect phone, remote controls, tablets, doors & cabinets knobs.
